Hi guys and girls I'm completely new to aquariums and don't know much so I'm here on the forum to learn a little more from you guys. When I decided on a tank I went out and bought the biggest one I could get and popped a couple of fishes and plants in but I think my tank is short of some personality hope I can learn more and rectify this. Hope to enjoy my time here with you guys

Hello! Welcome to TASA! I'm certain someone will be able to give you all the advice you seek! You need to give us some more info though - the dimensions of your tank, who the inhabitants are, the filtration details and so on. If you need someone to help with fish/plant id's then post some pics and someone will help out there.

Hello and Welcome to TASA. Hope you enjoy making friends and learning about the hobby.

+1 to what Tracy has said. How long has the tank been running?

Remember this hobby is addictive :bebored:

WOW! That IS a big tank! The external filter is what we call a canister filter... can you give us the model on that? And what is inside? (called filter media).

And a first comment on your inmates - the koi will get too big, I hope you have plans for a proper koi pond in the near future? Also, both Koi and goldfish are better off in cold water tanks/ponds in the long run. They also both live a long time in the right conditions.... 20 years or more. Do you have plans for a pond for them?

Welcome to TASA, this sound like a huge tank, please post pics of it. And I personally think you need to take the Koi and goldfish out of the tank they where not made to be kept in tropical conditions.

Hi Happyboy, Please take them back to your lfs try and swop them for something else, it is unfair to them they where not made to be kept in warm water conditions you are doing them more harm, I know they are nice but rather go take them back to your lfs. The guppies and neon tetras also needs to be removed the parrots will devour them when they get big. Remember this is just advice given.

    Only my 2 cents worth.

Welcome to the site!! woaaw cant wait for pics.. awesome size tank, going to be a lot of work to maintain but i find that best part of the hobby, gives you that one on one time with your tank :p wide variety of fish, i think you will get get advice here on fish compatibility, you want to try and keep fish of about the same size or the rule i was given is if one fish can fit in the other mouth rather not keep them together you can also google "fish compatibility chart" and it will give you an idea. i would remove the cold water fish hopefully and if you are thinking of planting your tank those silver dollars will be a major problem. i had to get rid of mine as plants didn't last 1 night. good luck and keep us posted

Hey @HAPPYBOY welcome... here you are in great hand, the ppl here you will never be left with any problems, and all the problems will be offered tons of ways to sort that problem out...now that tank is huge for a beginner but i guess go big or go home right...the Koi and Goldfish should not be kept in a tank but you could always donate them... but glad you found your way to the dark side hahaha, would love to see pics of the tank,

    and as @
SloMo.00. said this is an addiction

he he - well, the filter should have the model printed somewhere on it! Have a look/post a pic!

I would suggest rehoming your coldwater fish to someone who has a proper setup for them. It is for their wellbeing in the end.

And to the media - the rock will be lava rock, the plastic bits are most likely bioballs, the white stuff is filter floss and the small stones are most likely a biofiltration medium like Matrix. Not bad media at all, but you will need to reshuffle them around a bit. Have a read through the sticky's in the beginner section and you'll soon understand why I say so!

@HAPPYBOY there is a section on the forum where you can advertise for a swap or freebies giveaway, maybe post there that you would like to swap or giveaway your cold water fish and im sure you will find someone interested. people here are not greedy and will probably be willing to swap for something.
btw have you checked that your tank is level? you want to try and get it as level as possible to releave extra pressure on your monster.
please also post specs on glass thickness and lighting. it would be interesting to know what you have. PICS RULE!!!
