Hi guys, I have a 30l BOYU tank and it's got one plant (name unknown) 4 neon tetras and 2 molly's.

I want to know what you guys would recommend for the tank, I also have a 50l tank that is not running, it doesn't have a canopy but I am looking at maybe starting that tank.

    Help would be appreciated :)
    Thanks

    welcome!

Can you perhaps post a photo of the plant? The bigger the tank the better - Dilution is the solution to pollution :D

You might want to add another 3 or 5 neons to the school :top:

    welcome welcome

personaly I would not keep the mollies with neons... decide which you would prefer to keep and the other must go. mollies would do well in a brackish setup with other brackish fish, such as monos, archers, puffers, scats etc - perhaps consider setting up the 50L as a brackish tank and keep the neons in the 30L and increase the school size to about 10 neons and add 1 or 2 nice cory's and maybe another small school of tetras that will cintrast with the neons - this is all dependent on your filtration which you should tell us about before going ahead with any changes...

Hi and thanks for the welcome.

I think i might have screwed up on this one. I went to the LFS and bought 5 more neon tetra's, a bala shark and 2 other tetra's (don't remember the name)
I took a picture of the plant, and will take a picture of the tank later.

I want to set up the 50l tank, but i just don't have the money to build a canopy and get the lighting, unfortunately.

Could you link me to or explain further what a brackish tank is ?

    Thanks.

    Hi and welcome

I agree with Dolphin, I won't mix mollies & neons....if swimming space becomes too tight, mollies become semi-aggro and starts nipping the smaller fish till death so that they can have more swimming space. I've seen this happen when I started out with fish....suffice to say that I learnt pretty quickly; haven't kept a mollie since.

As for brackish water, it is water that has more salinity than fresh water, but not as much as seawater.

Tip: Before buying fish, first do some research on them to ensure you can provide for their needs. Also, you don't want to mis-match fish that will be hosued in the same tank :)

    Post the pics jong :)

    Cheers
    Dale

My mollies and my neon's seem to have an understanding, this new tetra that i got although, is quite agro.

Very infact, chases my barla shark almost twice the size of it :/
