Maybe we can swop some out.

By the way saw some of the posts of your tanks. You really have the touch, made me envious.

I think they are doing fine, looks about the same as my two week olds. You're just used to the older ones growing so fast now haha.

Yes I checked today against the photos I take everyday. Think they are ready for that sudden growth spurt. So I think you are very right.

Doing much better than me at the moment. I lost more than half my fry over the weekend, the kh out of my taps are 0 and caused the ph to drop to 4 and below. Luckily my grow out didn't drop that much and was at 5, I think the bigger water volume saved me there. My adults also darted around because of this and my breeding female is not looking good. She's paralyzed from hitting the glass too hard. My kh out the tap was 2-3 for the last 3 years so didn't expect this at all.

Thanks Maria and Reedfish, the help and advice on this site has been invaluable to me as a novice. I also think they are gorgeous and doing very well. No idea what I am going to do with all of them. It is good to get advice from somebody that has done it before like Boelderbeestie.

Boelderbeestie, read your post on the KH and very sorry to hear about it. I read something that says that it is difficult to measure Ph at such a low Kh and that the Ph may actually be lower than what you measure. Sad about the breeding female. A question how big is your grow out tank as I may have to make a plan.

I have a white discus that is prone to getting a fright and now has an injured eye. Not sure if it is an injury or from the fighting when I had the pairs breeding.

I use rain water from my tank almost exclusively. The Kh always test 2 and the Ph is around 7. I havent really tried to adjust this at all other than adding mopani root wood. The only problem is the phosphate is high. Should probably clean the water tank but it is full with all the rain up here. I wonder if my fish is getting all the right minerals and trace elements from this water or should I supplement with one of the water conditioners for discus.

No need for any adjustments on your kh. With a kh of 2 your ph in your tanks will be 7-6.8 which is good. My gh was 6 while I was growing out but has fallen very low now too. The tds was 110-120 and kh 2 like yours. I only softened my water for breeding.

There's people that harden their water while growing out and some that say it doesn't matter and saw no difference. I just used my tap water, aged, heated and primed it before doing a water change. The reasoning behind this is when you sell them off, 9/10 times they will go into tanks that has tap water in it and they won't have trouble acclimatising and won't shock so the transition is seamless.

By looking at your fish so far I would say just do as you've been doing now. They look good.

They are doing very well. Bought some micro pellets that sink to the bottom. Adults and the small ones just love picking it off the bottom. Also continuing with brine shrimp , ,the eggs is costing a fortune. They are also eating a tropical mix frozen food. Also going to get some food from Marco.
