Hi guy I have a small tank at home 15L, more of a joke really...

however I have a two foot tank sitting in the garage that needs to be used and I was thinking about setting it up in the garage to try some breeding.

    Any pointers, or advices?

Might still be on his way to work, so you have about 10min :p

Tip # 1 : I will stick to something small. You can try a pair of betta.

Tip # 2 : Make sure to condition the fish you want to breed.

Tip# 3 : Ensure you have the right food to feed the fry>

    :p:p:p

@ Vis : You nailing all the points

@ Lizid: What type of fish you interested in?? You get egg laying fish or live bearers. Live bearers is allot easier to start off with.

I would suggest start with liverbearers as you gain experience on the basics of breeding and fry care....

I would then move onto Kribensis or Apistogramma cactuodies (Cockatoo Apisto), both of which I've had success with.

Main thing as has already been mentioned is to get the right foods to condition your fish for breeding and then to ensure you have the right food to feed the fry.

Small and easy. I think you have a winner.

Then try betta and move on to some egg laying species

Just don't go to any petshop and buy. They will sell you anything.
Even the shoes on your feet you'll want to buy again.

Maybe take a little longer time and get a nice male / female.
Then breed something you can be proud off.

Set up your tank and cycle it properly and then contact me and I can supply some really outstanding guppies for you to start with. I'm in Midrand. I'll be away from the 12th - 25thApril - going to the coast!!
    Irma

Sorry - just read on the other thread that you have been referred to Dolphin (one of our sponsors) Please ask him first for guppies and if he cannot help you then I have some available.
