So, my fiance bought me a new 4ft tank, total Litres = 236. To cut a long story short i have the fluval 205 which caters for a tank up to 200L, and pumps out 680L p/h. So my question is, will this pump cater for this tank if i throw in lots of gravel and large rocks?

Im sure once i add everything the tank must drop down to 200L shouldn't it? The guys at the LPS said it would do fine as im not going to over populate the tank, and i will only keep about maybe 5 parrot fish and 2 ancistrus.

The filter should be fine for your tank and inhabitants. You can also add additional filter later...

Ok, back onto topic, as only Gert put his opinion in. Anyone else agree with Gert? please note that i dont want an internal filter, and i already have a powerhead inside the tank so circulation isn't an issue, just cleaning the water is my major concern (the pump).

The fluval 205 canister is fine but what media are you planning to put in?

It will be fine. Like you said once you add stones and rocks the volume of water will decrease. You already filtering 3 times the volume of the tank per hour. Just keep up with your regular maintance and water changes per week.

Not planning on putting any real plants in, mainly just gravel, large stone, driftwood etc inside it.
