    Hi,
I am planning to start up a new tank. (I had two tanks about 3years ago, but had to sell them as I was moving & had no space...)
I need some advice regarding tanks like the Jebo Curved glass 1.5m +-360L or 2.0m 610L. I know that the filter that comes with the tank is not quite enough, but I plan to either add an internal filter / replace it with a better / bigger unit.

I had plain tanks with the plastic covers in the past, but my wife insist that the tank must be good-looking!
I am planning a community tank (like I had before) with, clown loaches, bala sharks, goldnugget plec, royal plec, ext.
So my question, any comments on the quality of Jebo & or Juwel tanks. Any other brand suggestions?
    Thanks!

I am not a good handyman, so for me to make the tank look "good / elegant" enough to be allowed in the house is not possible. That's why I am opting for a good looking "brand" tank.

    Hi Beesboer...

Welcome to Tasa... Can I recomend you visit the new members section and just introduce yourself to us.

I have a Jebo 4 ft (1.2m) curved glass. Had it for approximately 6 months now. Unfortunately the New jebos DO NOT come with built in filters in the hood anymore, and you would HAVE to purchase a filter. Internal filters for that size are usually very big, and take up a lot of space, so I would recommend you get yourself an external filter.

You could also update your profile to show us where you are from. Often a Custom built tank built to your specifications with a sump filter + pumps and cabinetry can be cheaper than actually buying the curved glass tanks. (And thus you can go for a much bigger tank too.)

Also keep your eye on gumtree and the junkmail, as you can often pick up very good bargains in there.

    Thanks Zoom.
I saw a Jebo 1.5m curved glass at a LFS and it had as standard a external filter, but according to my sums, ill need some more filtration, that's why I am opting just to add a smaller internal.
Do you maybe have contact numbers so I can get some quotes on a custom?
My biggest problem before I even buy a tank is... Water.
I live in Hartbeespoort, and as you all know, our water is not even fit for consumption. Hopefully we'll get "Rand water" with in the next few months.

Then the tank is more than likely "old stock". I think they will still be around for a while because they don't fly out the shops. When I purchased my new Jebo the dealers could only sell me from the new stock, which now does not come with that external filter in the hood anymore. Apparently they feel it's a waste of time and valuable space because as you have correctly stated, the filtration is not great in them. The space is now better used for another globe.

Contact Dolpin. (One of the sponsors online). He can get a custom tank for you relatively cheaper than a Jebo.
