Does that mean it's your shop? Or your son orders there regularly?

Mmmmm if I remember correct I did not even have the tank when I started this thread to get an idea of the fish.

Got the tank in the mean time http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showthread.php?t=2718

    The stock stands at:
    15 Neon tetras.
    10 Galaxy Rasbora
    5 Microrasbora Erythromicron
3 pygmy Cories that was very small when I got them.

Dolphin has some delay with a shipment and my 15 Microrasboras brigittae and 15 Microrasboras Kubotai is in that.

    So almost there.

Was the last 3 available anywhere near me so I got them. They do hang out together and play. Somtimes one would go off and pretent he is a neon or something :D

I have 4 pygmy cories that definitely school, and pretend to be harlequins. I think they'd be great in a group of 6 or 7.

    Ok quick Q:

Can I keep 15 Neons, 15 microrasboras brigittae, 15 Microrasboras kubotai and a pair of german blue rams in a standart 3ft or would it be overstocked?

Well I've seen a successful 10 liter nano tank with 6 Kubotai in it, so that doesn't sound too overstocked to me :)

When are we going to see photos?

Schooling fish are mostly small and thus oscar food. What about a school of barbs like cherry barbs, they get 5cm big.

Most schooling fish would be a bad idea, the oscar will carry on growing and your others will get eaten even if they make it to max size in general. The only really viable schooling fish with Oscars would be fish like Silver Dollars, Tinfoil Barbs, Bala Sharks, etc., but these and oscars need a very large tank and very good filtration to be happy.

Tiger barbs may go for your oscars fins. Like Nirv said oscars aint really community fish

Oscars are rediculous!! (IMO)!! They will eat, or at least try to eat, just about anything!!

I've seen a 10cm Oscar eating 6cm Buenes Aires Tetras, and even seen the same one attacking an 8cm Angelfish!!

    They are ferocious killing machines!!

The only thing that can safely go in an Oscar tank is something that is likely to eat the Oscar!!

Of course all this depends on tank size?? If the tank is HUGE, then there is less of an issue becasue the Oscar can define a territory, and will attack/eat anything within that territory.... Outside that territory, and the fish are less likely to get eaten!!

Thats the theory anyhow!! The likely hood of having a tank big enough is slim unless you are called Henk!! Lol!!

    Cheers
    G!

Sorry you feel that way man, I was only trying to answer your question!!

Some of us do actually try and help.... The point of my post was that you pretty much can't have any shoaling fish with an Oscar.

If thats not a good enough answer for you, then ignore my post, and keep putting shoaling fish in with your oscar, and watch him get fat and very satisfied, whilst your wallet gets slimmer... Makes no difference to me!

    Regards
    Big G!
