Hi there I've been a member on TASA for a couple of months now and finally decided to get myself a tank. I have done some enquiries at the fish stores on starting a planted tank, but will take my time on buying everything that I need to start, as the stuff is not really cheap if you should get everything at once, as I would love to have my own little garden in a glass box. So far I got some stuff like a tank, heater bits and pieces for CO2 setup so I'm getting there slowly but surely lol.

Welcome to TASA. Don't worry, starting slowly is the best way to go. Tell us more about your tank and what sort of lighting, filtration and fish you're wanting to get.

    Welcome to TASA.
No need to start off full steam with pressurized CO2, take it slowly, many low tech tanks look stunning.
And then there is always DIY CO2 to try and see whether it is to your liking.
    Enjoy the ride.

Hey, I've had my aquarium since January, and had a parasite outbreak recently, and the help and advise I received from the petshops (the names I wont mention) did not help at all. If it wasn't for the advise received on TASA, I would probably be sitting with no fish in my aquarium, and a fish cemetery in my yard!

Basically I have a corner tank which came with a sump. I actually have no idea yet of what lighting I'm going to use but believe that T5 will be fine as my tank is only 500 high. As for fish I was thinking of cardinals and rummy nose.

Yeah, T5 lighting fine for everything, including plants.
Cardinals are nice, but require higher temperatures than most community fish. Neons may be a safer way to go.
