Hi everyone,
We are new to the aquarium world,,, but are learning at a fast pace.. It feels good to know we've got somewhere to ask for advice... Seems like a few pro's are at the helm of things... :bigsmile:
Question one - how do we take viewable pics of our aquarium with a digital camera.. Flashlight off seems to work a little better,, any other advice?
We have started out with 'easy' ones, mollies (please excuse the spelling, only learning all the names at this stage)... :smile1:, neon's, tetra's and angels.
We have no idea who we can put together, and the stores just sells you whatever you ask for!!
When we added two gouramies,,,, a big mistake I believe...
We have lost the angels, and the neons....
Are they the culprits???

Use the flash, but don't take the photo straight-on. That way the bright flash will reflect away, and not back into the camera.

Another trick, stand as far away as possible, while keeping the above in mind, and also the fact that flashes don't work well beyond about 5 meters distance. This lets you take a picture with considerably less distortion of straight lines towards the outer edges.

The other way to eliminate blur (besides using a flash) is to use the shortest possible exposure time. Set your camera to Action / Sport / Kids mode, or manually select an exposure time of about 1/60 or faster.

What type of gouramis did you add to the tank? You could have introduced disease into the tank if you didn’t quarantine the fish.

 

Hi there... I've taken some pics which I think came out not too bad... Thanks for all the advice... Will post some pics for any comments...
I think it's dwarf gouramis, as the red one is starting to bite the blue one as well..
But yes, the neons have dissappeared in two days,, but all the other fish are still very much alive. (for now?)
Photo's going up - you would know what they are for sure...

 

ah yes - the dwarfs should only be kept in pairs... the males come in a red morph and a blue morph....

 

Hmmm, , I've added three pics - the max available? LOL
Trying to figure out how to add more - gouramis not on there yet... :-(

Welcome to TASA Carping

Dwarf gouramis have a bit of attitude from what I've seen before. More peaceful gouramis are Pearls...very nice to have.
