Just paid the deposit for the tank and stand from SKS Aquatics. Soon as it is built and collected I will post some pictures.

Very exciting ... post pics ;-) oh and make sure the tank does not smell of silicone sealer before you add water ... it really does need to be well cured.

Hi Ferdie, Yes I will definitely make sure the silicon has cured before adding the water. I purchase the pool filter sand yesterday and been looking around for a canopy. Was set on purchasing one of those standard black plastic ones and as I was thinking it will be cheaper. Looking at the price of wood. But then I spoke to the tank builder and he was asking why not wood. I began looking around again and realized that I could possibly get tongue and groove pine for cheap. Purchased some of the wood yesterday and some more today and had some time to start building the canopy today. Will get some hinges tomorrow and try and finish the canopy this weekend. Still debating whether to paint the canopy with enamel or to varnish it.

Looking good. Can I suggest making a hole in the hood somewhere and getting some airflow through it to reduce condensation? I built a hood like this many years back and eventually used a pc fan to stop the condensation running down onto the floor

@TheGrissom Will Look into It. The Canopy is far from finished, still have to make holes for the cables ETC. Any Idea where would be the best place in the canopy to place the fan?

When I did it I just made a hole in both sides and had the fan blowing across the length of the tank. Unfortunately this does cause evaporation to increase. This topic has come up before - maybe do a search. Others have used other methods of controlling condensation.
