    Good evening.

My girlfriend bought a Betta in a teeny tiny plastic tub.
A friend of mine is a long time fish keeper and I asked him if he had a spare tank lying around as I hate to see animals suffer and that poor Betta was definitely not having a good time with no heater and no space. He gave my girlfriend a little 20L tank with heater and filter. After a few months of watching the Betta all alone in it's little 20L tank I thought I'd be nice and get him some company, so I got a few guppies for him. Boy is he temperamental, ofcourse me not knowing anything about fish didnt know any better... he didnt kill anyone but boy did he rip those tails to shreds. After a few weeks after the guppies were introduced, my girlfriend started to bling the crap out of that tank. I would post a picture of it but it was just to horrible to describe and no one should be subjected to seeing that. I imagine that if a clown ate neon paint, drank two cases of beer and went on a roller coaster ride and emptied his stomach, the resulting psychedelic kaleidoscope of colour that would come gushing forth would indeed, look like my girlfriends tank.

Another friend of mine had a 100L tank which was just standing around collecting dust and me not being into fish, started getting curious about the whole fish keeping thing.
So I took the tank, cycled it, got some Crypts and Anubius, nice fine sand and started off trying to create a natural environment for fish. This was in November last year, it is now February and I have a 320L marine tank which I use to keep my tropical freshwater fish.

    the contents are:
Anubias, crypt and unidentified long stemmed plants.
    5x Guppies
    5xCory cats
    2x Synodontis cats
    10x Platies
    3x Kuhli Loaches
    1x Spiny Eal
    4x Balloon Mollies
    1x Pictus catfish
1x (which I know of) Malaysian trumpet snail
    4x Chinese Algae eaters.

Had a couple of platies fry which are now in the quarantine tank and almost ready to be added to main population.
My cory cats laid eggs twice but the eal and other fish get to them before I can remove them, so no luck there yet.

Well thats about all I can think of for now, I am going to head off to the plant section as I need help finding out why my long stemmed plants are turning to mush at the stems, I suspect lighting problems...

    HI and bye.

    Hi everyone.
Yeah Dash, I know some people have no scruples selling non aquatic plants as such LoL. I think I'm having problems due to trace elements and lighting. I can see myself getting obsessive about it hehe

Hi TombStone. Welcome to TASA. That poor betta in your girlfriend's tank... Any lasting psychological damage that you've noticed? To the betta I mean? This may be a good time to sit down with your lady and have a heart to heart regarding any home decorating, which may occur in the future. Good to be on the same page before you go shopping. Gets awkward for everyone, and some people object to their kids being subjected to colourful language...

Well I am a firm believer of leading by example. After she saw how my tank turned out she copied it so the Betta is much happier but still a bit psychotic LoL
