    Hey everyone

My name is Anthony and I am a 36 y/o husband, father, gamer & content consumer.
I stay in the Southern Suburbs in Cape Town.

I bought my son and myself (mostly myself) a 56L tank 2 weeks ago. I had a theme in mind, from a YouTube video I saw so I went with that roughly. I have wanted to do this for some time, and finally pulled the trigger this month.

I am currently having Heater issues, with it overheating the tank up to 28deg on the lowest setting (Actively figuring it out with Sams in CT)

After a week, I ended up buying an additional small submerged filter so I had more options. It is currently giving the tank some surface agitation.

I have planted (semi successfully) some Dwarf Hairgrass (Eleocharis Parvula) and recently bought some Rotala HRA for the back (came with a stowaway plant I may need help identifying later). I went with a single purchase of the HRA with the intention of manually propagating it into the area I would like to cover. I might get some Duckweed or some other floating plants to have some roots drooping down for more hiding spots but I am still trying to figure out how to control it as to not affect the tank lighting.

    My current stocking plan:
    - 2 or 3 Amano Shrimp
    - 2 or 3 Otocinclus
    - 10 Neon Tetra

I have wanted this for some time now, as I did have a VERY low tech tank when I was a kid. My father did everything, now its my turn with my son.

Please throw me some advice on my stock list if needed, I am learning a fair amount on YouTube and forums but I am still pretty fresh here.

    Thanks for reading :D

    Welcome to the forum Anthony.

There are a lot of knowledge between the members that will be a tremendous help when you run into issues. Your tank will look great when everything starts to fill in. I really like the look.

Welcome to the forum. Tank is looking good already. I would guess the heater issue is either a lack of flow or the thermostat inside is faulty

The heater was keeping the tank at regular temps, i just had to figure out which settings gives me which temps. But now it seems to be giving me more trouble. Ill be going back to the shop tomorrow to get it sorted.

Thanks for the warm welcome peeps
