new atman filter

so monday i bought my new filter and its awesome :bigsmile: its an atman hf 300 bio filter and its a hang on. its the one the petshop recommended and is got that lil pad thingy wit the coal and the cotton wool . i put some of my old filter wool in to kick start it and im really happy with the result, im just a lil worried about the current it makes it seems to be a bit much for my betta vulcan. does anyone have one of these and can advise me on wether i can reduce the current somehow or not?
