Wanted: Nerite Snails JHB

@louiep for a 30L I’d suggest getting 2 of the smaller nerites eg horned, olives. If you can. Just for scale in a small tank.

 

I think 2 of the small types should be just fine (they don’t breed in freshwater) with the neons especially if you don’t have a stack of other snails, shrimp etc in there and you’re relying on them to deal with algae and clean up uneaten fish food.

I think 2 of the smaller ones might even have less bioload than one big one (eg a zebra), and they can get into smaller nooks and crannies. Don’t get me wrong, I love the big ones too but for larger tanks. Nerites are excellent cleaners and pretty too.

Also, you might know this already but they don’t handle ammonia or nitrites at all, and when place them into the tank carefully as they can struggle to right themselves when they land on their backs. And they can sometimes wander out of rimless tanks.
