Need SOUND advice for tank setup please

Hi guys, hope you're all well!!

So, did a water change (aged and de-chlorinated water) yesterday after seeing your replies and today's water tests showed pH of 7.5, Ammonia between 0.003 and 0.009 ppm and Nitrites down to 0. In the 11 days the tank has cycled so far its had 3 water changes of 25% each time. Should I continue with water changes every three days until both Ammonia and Nitrite levels have dropped to zero or would you suggest more frequent water changes, say every second day? And when would weekly water changes become possible?

 

Hi K.C leave the water changes until the tank is cycled. You are messing with the whole cycle by removing water. I know you did it now because of the substrate.

You should see the ammonia and Nitrite going down and the nitrate go up.
When your ammonia and nitrite reads zero your tank will be cycled.

Then you do a water change and ad some fish. From there of on depending on fish and feeding a 20% water change a week will do fine.

 

If you add some cycling product (microbelift special blend) you can start a weekly wc.
