    Hi guys,

Okay so this might be a dumb question to most but i really can not make up my mind.

Im planning on building a shrimp tank that is going to be in my room.

So the problem i have is

    7L or 15L tank?

Also, what internal filter should i use? Or are there tiny water pumps that i could use and make an external filter?

Also, RGB LED or tube light?

All that will be in the tank is gravel, some moss and a tiny piece or 2 of drift wood and 4 red cherry shrimps.

Now i think the smaller one might fit better with the custom top and bottom cover that will be added later. But the bigger one i can keep more shrimp and maybe more moss and some other plants.

Just looking for something to get a good vibe in there..

Go with the 15 liter tank, dark substrate and a sponge filter for the win. As far as lighting goes, I've got a small clip in LED for my shrimp rank and it works great!!

@MadHatter i would say go for the 15 liter. extra space will help since you MUST include a heater as well. i learnt that the hard way. i tried keeping them in a 6litre :(

@MadHatter maybe start it off with the 7lt and see how it goes? you can always upgrade over to the 15 provided you dont use it for something else

    Bigger is better.
15L will allow the shrimps a bit more room, and soon the 4 will be 40.

I started with a small tank (heater, filter and clip on LED) but they breed so fast that ill soon have to put them in a bigger tank. Luckily i plan to upgrade my community fish to a 3 or 4 ft tank so shrimp can go in their 2ft.

Would like to see the end result.
Who is doing the build for you?
    Glass or acrylic?

    Hi Madhatter,

I would go with a 40L tank, 45*30*30 with a air pump double sponge filter. a DIY LED light that you can get at a china market.
Dark substrate and moss, ferns, buces and anubias.
Keep your temp between 21 and 23, 10% water change every second week.
You can keep up to 500 shrimp in a 40L tank if you have a good regime in regards with water changes.

Shrimp need stability more than anything else

heres a example of a setup on some of my tanks.
I use 40L for all my shrimps
