    Hey Troy.

Good looking tank you have there.

Noticed that the plants are still in their baskets? I would suggest you take them out and plant the roots into the substrate. The glass fiber that the plants come in breaks away, and is dangerous for the fish if it get's in between their gills. This fiber also doesn't allow the roots to get good nutrients.

    Troy...
Here's an important reminder... NEVER listen to animal kingdom's advice again... heehee.

Actually... without being funny.. if you have a question, come ask us here first... often Pet Stores advice needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I posted some pics in the fish pics side.

I was thinking, as you can see you tank isn't looking as good as it can. I want to change it to a more natural look, any ideas?

Saw it Troy just after posting here. I think more natural would in most cases include plants, except for certain cichlids.
You really have a huge range of choices. I would look at some current systems to see what you really like.

Some planted systems are very complicated and expensive, some simple and elegant. Malawi setups have no plants and
The rocks and fish make it stunning. So choose something that suite your style and then everyone can advise you
How to get it that way.

    I would:
    - Remove the psychedelic neon gravel, replace the substrate with darker brownish sand/gravel or such to match the rocks if you are gonna keep them.
    - Remove the Oneil sticker
    - Remove the background, that planted scape is contrasting to the vastly unplanted-ness of the actual aquarium, rather paint the back a colour and then plant the tank up to match the picture, i.e. a nice dense planted tank?
    - move the rocks to the opposite ends of the tank to open up the centre for fish viewing, the rocks in the centre are really narrowing down your tank making the dimensions look much smaller
btw, what fish are in there. cant see any?

    @Troyfish

Glad to hear you're going natural! :) I think you will find it a far more professional, relaxing and rewarding aesthetic - but that is of course just my opinion! Ferryman pretty much covered all the points!
I would also suggest you find a nice, interesting piece of wood, then put it in a bucket with water (weigh it down with a brick so its completely submerged) for a few weeks until it sinks under its own weight. Change the water a few times too so it leaches out all the tannins. This makes an excellent addition to your tank and you can attach plants like java fern to it :)

    Hi guys

Well iv gone through many different type of set ups today and decide on using the pool filter sand. I work at my fathers pool shop so of course ill get cheaper price. Also making a little something, rather show when done.

Just one question, how long can i have my fish in a small 30x30cm tank for? Might take me a few days to build this up

    Thanks

Troy that depends on whats in the tank... If its just one small fish then a while if its 30 big fish then they wont fit. Please advise us as to whats in the tank? Then we can give you our opinion ;-) Hehehe
