My redone 3FT

Hi all.

Got this tank a while back and have been working on it for some time.
It's my first attempt at a planted tank so please comment.
Has Black Neons, Neons,Skunk,Danios, 2 mollies, and 2 small balas.
New to taking photos with camera and it's an OLD one at that.



Some Neons are so bright it scares me!

 

nice start - if you let the tank settle and the moss grows - vallis starts filling in then you will be rewarded with an awesome tank. I am assuming the pot is the hidding place for the skunk?

Comming along good. Do you want the moss on the left hand side too cover the whole piece of wood?

He actually hasn't used it yet. He's hiding behind the wood on the left. Think he's still settling in. One of the neons seems to like it though.

Not really...I want it to grow near the top and then I'll start cutting it back but I'll see as things carry on.

Moving away from the 3ft. I've got a spare 1.5Ft that I cleaned out( Had goldfish in it but I got tired of them so returned them to the shop. Only had 2 fantails and a koi about 2.5 cm big.) and I want to turn it into a planted/quarantine tank. Would this work or would the chems affect the plants. i do have a spare 1ft that I could use for a quarintine.

 

Sorry. I posted that without thinking. I want to set up the 1.5ft next to the 3ft as a planted tank. I would only have swords and neons/glowlights in it. I have spare Boyu filter rated at 340L/H that I would have in it.I would also like to add a homemade filter sometime to run in conjunction. I would have a lot of amazons and this other plant I found Bacopa monnieri (I think) that I really like. Being a newbie, I would like to know what the best sort of substrate I should use. I also saw these pencil like fertz at my LPS. Are they any good?
