A few plants. Still waiting for the moss to take hold. Need to trim the plants in the back, as I saw a lot of dead points on the leaves.

    Thanks :embarrest:

Was low budget. The black sand was R55-00 per bag. I need one bag more to complete.
Got a cheap co2 setup. Will upgrade that soon. The driftwood - My brother bought this and did not like it, so I got it from him.
The biggest expense was the plants. But propagating the plants is rather cheap. Only thing costing a lot at the moment is the fertilizers. Flourish does not come in cheap...

Need to sort out the plants though... Leaves are turning brown and can't figure out why...

The great thing about having a brother with a 200liter tank. He dumped most of his things that he did not need on my. I am starting a 40 liter soon. Got the water and the first level substrate in the tank with a few plants and a few snails.

Another thing is time. This is about 3 months down the line. This setup (in the pick) is about a month old. Plants have been showing some stunning growth. Just need to get some front ground cover and some mid plants.

But the first launch point will be to read, plan and think ahead.

@fhmarais Henk, looks great!! IMHO it would look better without the whitish pebbles. Let the plants grow and only cut the dead leaves me thinks...

    Thanks everyone.
I wanted to use black, but could not find the black string. Looks way better than the blue string I used first.

And thanks for the pick on diagnosis on leaves. Will help a lot

@fhmarais It's looking great, and for low budget.. good going! Plants are always tricky unless you get that light/Co2 mix going really well. I reckon once you upgrade the Co2, the plants will pump - the rotala looks beautiful though.

Got some Co2 today. So will see what will happen now.
Also got some flourish tabs from my brother. And bought Flourish trace and another bottle today. Will see if the plants turn around

an update shot on the tank. Got rid of some of my plants. Will see how this looks when I am back from leave. One week with no intervention on my tank... Scary thought, but hope that all will go well with the tank...

Is that a protein skimmer in your tank?
