    Hallo

This past weekend I dicided to remake my planted tank again. I went to Bloem and bought a bag of silica sand and some small stones, a few plants and some new fisheeeeees.

Last night I washed the silica sand and boiled the stones. Thank goodness that is over.

Then this morning started with the tank. Took all the plastic plants out and only real plants went in. Made a small cave for my spiny eel. Now the plants only need to grow and will def have to put some more plants in. But that will come in time! Some advise will be greatly appreciated.

And wolla this is what it looks like now.

"I will recreate my tank over and over and over until I am 110 % satisfied" And every time with a little more greativity and personality.

How about adding some wood - I'm sure it'll be stunning in that tank. :)

Hallo Veegal, I do have some wood but I decided to put them in a bucket of water first because they are leaking in my water and that looks bad. The previous tank have 2 in but it looks so bad. So the wood will come in as soon as they stop leaking. In about 4 to 5 months. But going to look for some fake wood that looks very much like the real deal.
    Thanks

Great stripes! If you soak them in warmer water the leaching out of the tannins seems to happen a lot faster - can't wait to see the photos when the wood is added :D

I bought the silica sand from Kloppers in Bloem. You wont believe how shops try to rip you off. I first looked at another shop ''BM'' but they asked R79.99 for a 40 kg bag so I went to Kloppers in Bloem and got it for R42. Same product but different stores. I used about 30 kg and then about 10 kg of stones I bought from a "kwekery".

Stripes, I like the pebble and silica combo. For one, it looks more natural, and two, it has a nice 2-tone look.

How are you planning to maintain this though? If you siphon your sand, eventually you will bury the pebbles.

i was actually contemplating the sand/pebble thing, but lancep has raised a good point. Will it really be an issue?

I hope not. But will have to see what happens when I start to siphon it.

The quicker the tank warms up, the less power it uses. Hence, 2 heaters. Plus the one will act as a backup if one dies.

The tank looks good. Can't wait to see it grow in a bit.
