Yesterday I bought a black- copper purple round tail betta crossed with a HM. He is very beautiful and BIG! He`s total length is about 7 cm. And he`s body is very solid. He is my only grown male that I have because my other Plakat male died of a fungus infection. I will try to take pictures a little later today. I think he flares a full half moon. He is only interested in my yellow CT females and my plakat female. But all the females is interested in him. I am planning to breed him with the plakat female and then with the CT females.

    Thanks @Skye01 and @f-fish
He stays at the corner and when he spotted females he will flare at them.

Hi @Rooivlerkie, this is a very good match up. With that nice broad dorsals I see on both on them suggests double tail gene's in both of them. You might get some double tail fry from this spawn, I'm not always right but I'm never wrong...lol. Good luck with this pair and please do breed this pair and post lots of pics. These two will deliver show stoppers, I'm sure of that. Congrats!!!!

    Thanks @Charles.
I love the purple he has in him. Hopefully they will breed. I will put the pair tonight in the spawning tank. He is not a true half moon I think. But the female is a true HMPK I think. I will be interested to see how the fry will look like

@Rooivlerkie, the male is a HMPK for sure, I have my doubts about the female though...if I compare her to my imported white HM female I had, your female is a PK delta tail from what I see in the pic. Get her to flare and take a snap then while she is fully flared. Then only can one tell for sure. But none the less, they both are very very beautiful.

The female don`t flare very often. I will try to get a picture. Every time she sees a male she show breeding bars. I don`t really care about the tail type that much as long as I don`t get veil tails. I wonder what types of tails I would get? I would be interesting

That male came from Indonesia, a specialist breeder....listed under Dragon-Metallic
Was sold as HalfMoon Roundtail, Black Purple Copper

I can only assume since it's tail DOES Flare Halfmoon, is not large, that it's close to HalfMoon Pla Kat.
He IS so stocky, solid all the way though.
Flash shows Purple, of an awesome shade, otherwise he is Black, with Blue reflections when viewed from above.

I cannot wait for your successful spawns with those 2 females.

PS Tuesday I will have an import of some REALLY FINE specimens of Thai Betta in Pairs, and some singles.

The male had started a nest. It is only about 4 or 5 bubbles but he is building and I hope he will have a lovely nest at the end of the day.

Well I destroy his nest accidently. Now he is building a new one. He will flare at the female and then rushed back to his nest and blow a few bubbles and repeat the process. He is really beautiful.

No Sadly no spawn yet. I tried 4 different females. They seem all afraid of him. But I will feed my females well and then try again. It is a shame. He was willing and even build a nest. But the females was not so willing.
I will put the female in with him tommorow of tonight.

Sorry to hear that there has not been a successful spawn so far, but I'm sure that one of the females will accept him and you will have some stunning young... Keep trying.
