My new Shellie tank

Hi

Thought I would try something new and decided on a shellie tank.
Will be putting a pair of Occelatus gold in it. Seems they have some caracter about hem.

Tried to keep everything to a minimum.

10G Tank
2.5Kg of Coral Sand
2Kg of river sand.
Green plants: anubias.
Red plants: Oranja Plastika (Were told they are very rare)
Heater
Dolphin KF-350 Bio Filter

Still waiting for the correct shells and O yes of course also some fish.

What I have read the Occies is going to rearange the decor anyway but any ideas or suggestions will be welcomed.

Between them, Stappersii and Calvus are my favourite Tangs

Ordered them from Dolphin. He is importing some wild caught Occies from TanganYika.

Also like the Stappersii but could choos only one pair. Maybe later.

How do you keep the Ph high and stable exept for the coral sand? What I read it only beffers the Ph to 7.5

Know about the whole Baking soda and Epsom Salt mix but a lot of people say it can be little unstable.

 

From what I read, Lamprologines are harem breeders, so you going to need more females
Water supply in our area is around 7.6-7.8 out of the tap. I got crushed coral skeletons and volcanic rock which ups and keeps the ph around 8.

Seachem sell Tanganyika buffer salts

 

Not so worried about them breeding as this would put me out of space anyway. They just look like they can be fun to look at and if they breed the offspring would have to go somewhere.

The Occelatus seems to be little less of a harem breeder then the multies etc.

Will see if I can find some volcanic rock. Maybe go to spur and chip one of those hotplates.

 

Oh man... I'd love to get some Shelies again... They are such beauties... Might have to convert a tank..

1st plan is to keep them alive but if they do breed I will let you know maybe we can make a plan.
Have never kept them before so look forward to the challenge.

They do look like fish with a lot of attitude.

Gaawie now understand why the Oranja Plastika is so rare:idea: You should see them NOT grow.
