    Hello friends!

First up, my name is Gareth and it's a pleasure to join this community.

I actually registered a few years ago but I was not very active and have not been around for ages.

I finally bit the bullet a few weeks ago bought a preowned 150x60x80 tank (600l).

Picked it up for a bargain and spent some time refurbishing it.

I was in multiple minds about what to stock it with, having had the pleasure of owning Oscars previously, I've decided I'm going to put 3 or 4 in this tank (open to constructive feedback regarding the number).

So this is my progress so far.

    Looking forward to your comments!

    Welcome to the Forum

    So many possibilities.
Discus would be nice. Not as difficult as some people make out, but they are a lot more work than standard tropicals. And it is very important to start with decent quality fish (not runts from the lfs) which tends to be quite expensive

Staying with cichlids - a mild mannered South American community - Geophagus, severum, Uaru etc
A Rift setup - either Tangs, or from Malawi - Mbuna or Haps.

Great tank, going to get lost in it for hours xD

Looks like a 7 beam brace in support frame, is the support cabinet re-enforced or wood only?

Thanks, I look forward to it!

It's wood only and honestly I'm a bit paranoid but the previous owner has had it full for years and no issues. Should I be worried? I means it's between 700 and 800kg when full

Beautiful tank and a great size. The only thing that would worry me about the cabinet is if water gets onto it for what ever reason and its not sealed properly, especially if its chip board for the carcus which it usually is. Chipboard and water is like fire to petrol. Neither ever ends well.

Keep it dry and it should last, mine did for 20 years until the day the tank leaked and that was the end of the cabinet for ever.

    Gorgeous Oscars @Gforce

    As a matter of interest,

The 'naartjie' ones are Albino Reds

The 'Lemon' will be interesting to see what he turns out to be as an adult
But is most probably a lighter throw back of the Albino Red lines

Real Lemon Oscars are not Albinos and have black eyes versus the Albino strains with red eyes

Be what may, they are stunning!

Welcome and nice tank. all the best. my tank is only 1500x50x50 and wood only stand and heavy lid holds well but like they said keep dry and keep close eye on it.
