    Hi All

I started a new nano over the weekend. Decided to go low tech and basic.

    Tank dimensions: 50x34x33
    50w heater
    Aquaclear 200 HOB
Light: Heto 11w PL unit 6500K
    Substrate: crushed lava rock
    Rocks: picked up at beach
    Fauna: 10x Cardinals
Flora: Java fern, Singapore moss (carpet), brazillian pennwort

The water, filter, plants and substrate came from an existing tank so there was no need for cycling.

Impressive Boebie. I like the rock scaping you've done there. Very different. Are you using any fertilizers or CO2?

Thanks Zoom, currently using no ferts or CO2. Java fern and moss grows with minimal light so didn't think CO2 will be necessary.

Thanks for the kind comments all. It took about 3hrs in totat to set up. Really glad I cut the moss mesh to fit and not pile the rocks on top of it. Now I can take it out to clean off the dirt and trim it without messing up the tank.

    That tank is very inspiring!

Aren't those rocks a bit too heavy for that tank? Man that's amazing...

Do you think I could do something like this with Silica Sand?

    Regards

    TM

Thank TM, have a look at the first pic, you will notice that I stacked the rocks on styrofoam to spread the weight. With silica sand I would go for lighter coloured rocks though.

Yeah...planning to use the piece in my Malawi tank in my jebo and plant it with moss and swords. Where can I get the mesh to hold down the moss?

I got the mesh at Stodels. Remember to buy double the size you need to make a 'sandwich'.

If you did not tell me this, I would not have known about the 'sandwich'.

I assume that the mesh is plastic? Thanks for the help!

I'm loving that scape, and it's going to be a stunner in a month or two when the moss grows out!
Where did you get the Singapore moss though?

I noticed that my Aquaclear 200 wasn't filtering very well and discovered that one of the blades on the impellar broke off. :(
    Ag nee, nog geld.
