I got myself a pair of black dragon plakats!!! I did also get two yellow crown tail females. All of them are a bit stessed but they are alive. I am planning to breed the dragon plakats. I will post pictures maybe tomorrow afternoon. I just love these fish. They are very nice!! The male plakat is very big and the female is still small. So I will have to feed her well. I am just glad to have such nice fish.

Yes @Rooivlerkie, post them pics, especially the dragons. @BBQ, I have yellow CT's as well, male and female. My male got sick very suddenly, he's in hospital now...fear for the worst hope for the best. Any knowledge on a better cure for Dropsy than BactoPur. This Dropsy is killing me here, lost my 3rd betta to it in a 2 month period. Any suggestions???

@Charles, I find that Bactopur is the best treatment for this illness, but something else that I have tried before and that worked a wonder for me was the Interpet Anti-internal Bacteria treatment. It pulled one of my large Sailfin Mollies through dropsy and I still have him today...

@Rooivlerkie, you can't just keep us hanging like this, you HAVE to post pics of these stunners. I can't wait to see them.

I will try to post pictures as soon as I can. The light here is not very good.
The female has a dark purple on her. Very beautiful. She is exploring the tank. And the male is also very beautiful. He flares at the female sometimes. I can see she has breeding bars. Only problem is, she is very small.
The yellow crown tails are exlporing their tank with the other female bettas. One has already flare at the other one.

    Here are the pics!!!

P1110787.jpg The female. She HAVE to poke her nose in EVERYTHING she sees.
P1110789.jpg The male from above. It is difficult to take a picture from the side because he is in a net.
P1110791.jpg One of the yellow females. The other one looks very much the same.

Yes they are young. The plakat female is about 4-5 months old. And the male is 6-7 months.
I will be feeding the females well. Hopefully the female will soon be ready to breed. Her colour does not show well in the picture. I will try to get a picture when the male is fully flared. Then he is so beautiful.

What a lovely male. I'll be interested in seeing what the pair produces. Thank you for all the trouble in taking and posting the pics, it was well worth it....

    thanks @Skye01
I love these plakats. It seems like the female can`t stop exploring the tank.
The male do only wait for the female and then he flares.
I will feed them good food espesially the female.
This male has a solid body and he could be aggresive on the female

I agree he looks like he could be a little on the 'woes' side. I'm currently feeding mine the Nutrifin Betta Flakes as well as Tetra Energy Crisps as well as some Totto granules and blood worm every second night and my females are growing great guns. What are you feeding yours?

I am feeding my fish tetra prima. When I am conditioning for breeding I feed them frozen brine shrimp too.
Another pic where he is flaring at the female. And another where he is fully flared.

If you look at the female from different angles you will see she have different colours. Sometimes silver, other times purple and even copper!

    VERY VERY NICE fish!
Those females , all of them, can only get more attractive as time goes by...

You are lucky to get these ,before people even know about them being in The country:bigsmile:
