Hi All This is a pic from my new 6ft. It is filled with water and has some rocks and a stump in it. I am getting my lights this afternoon. There is a lot of fake plants in there. They will be replaced with living ones as soon as I can get a decent plant supplier in the Westrand. Any ideas anybody?
@Ryno - I am going to visit your shop this weekend as I have to go to PTA. One of my co-workers suggested it this morning. He was there over the weekend.
great i will be there. this weekend. will se my the guy with the stupid Jap hair because i dont have time to get it cut haha
Pleasure man, you can also collect on weekends from him at the Engen garage in Edenvale, Linksfield road.
Hi All Here is some pictures of my tank as it is currently. I am busy in the process of replacing all non-living plants with living once.
Thank you Barb King I am planning to do that. I got the tank with that back ground but do actually have some dark blue background that I need to put on. I am playing with a DIY CO2 bottles as well at this stage. Hoping to get my plants to grow just a bit better
Nice man it just makes the plants and fish stand out better, yeah any co2 is good for the plants. What are you dosing for the plants?
Currently nothing. I have some Sera stuff not sure what it is. I am still deciding on what to get to dose them but there is so much conflicting opinions. What would you suggest? Thanks
If you dont have much live plants yet, I would still use the APSA EI dosing. Will then dose half of the recommend dosing which will be 50ml if you only got a few plants I would then do the normal routine but only dose 25ml at a time. GO on apsa and look for ei for dummies thread.
I'm still an absolute newbie to planted tanks and it may also sound like I'm promoting seachem here, but their planted tank stuff is extremely good, ok given it is slightly pricey but EI seems like a lot of work to me. Give Seachem flourish a try then every now and then dose with their Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium products. That's 4 different products and they probably add up to about R400 but give it a try. Your plants will love that stuff and the initial investment will be well worth it!
EI is not a lot of work, you just have to weigh the different goodies you add to the bottles. Which for me is every 2nd weekend. It literally takes me about 5 minutes and saves a LOTS of cash.
Thanks guys I will have a look at both solutions. My tank is +- 480l so what I have seen so far is that I will need a lot of the stuff. Might get a smaller tank and do I hi-tech in that. But will continue getting information.
