    Hi all

Herewith some pics and info on my progress so far.

My Fp Gardneri Jos Plateau's, male and female. Spawning in a mop and I tried the peat moss incubation for a while but it is far too much hassle. Now incubating them in water with some meth blue added to avoid fungus. Have 7 little ones right now and feeding them BBS and micro worms. They are growing at a rate of knots!! Bought some eggs on ebay and await their arival, keen to get some new blood. DSC01293.jpg

My Epiplatys Dageti Moroviae male. He is still getting more clourfull every week.

Their little ones - tried mop spawning but they preferred the moss it seems. Moved their tank into the fish room last weekend and discovered 4 fry. Moved them to their own tank - see two little ones as well as a deveopling egg betweeen them. Difficult little buggers to capture with a camera! Will post in a next thread.

Lovely! My E. dagetes have all turned out female, need to see if I can get a male for them. Your breeding progress is highly impressive.

@PsyXe you are most welcome to come and get some when they have sexed out. Where did you get them from?

From Wilfred. And thanks so much - I hadn't thought about the fact that they breed and grow so fast, please let me know when some are recognisably male!

Yeah that is a great plan, to get a fish that is too used to live foods onto flake food when they reach adulthood is usually a mission.
Good luck man, hope you are enjoying this adventure though?

Ja thanks man, I know Killis are not exactly the most difficult to master but as I said previously I've alwaays wanted them from school days back in the 80's. Back then you couldn't get them for love or money and there was no internet to order on.

@PsyXe I may not continue with the Dagetis, want to stick to the Fp's I think, but havent made up my mind yet. Progressed from 1 tank to 12 in 2 months so will have to stop at "some" time :cheesy:

    Will you be interested?

:D Yes, if you decide to stop breeding them I will happily take over your breeding group. If you change your mind I still want 2 males and 1 female from your fry though! Let me know, I don't live too far away.

So Saturday I tried something new - because of the obvious diapause with some of the Fp Jos Plateau eggs that should have hatched more than a week ago I did a 100% WC in the hatching tray and VOILA! 4 fry in two hours. Last night another 4 popped out but were still shell encased around the head. So I left them to this morning, only to discover all dead!! The bloddy heater didn't make proper connection and it got cold last night, temp dropped to about 13 deg...

    Live and learn I suppose...

Nice setup man really sorry to hear about the fishy loss, luckily I got two heaters in my big tank. Still need to replace the one spare heater to a 300W Jager Heater.

    @francoisve

Ouch! That is really bad! Same happened to me with a faulty plug that had an inconsistent connection! Hard to notice on a heater that switches on and off anyway. I now test all my plugs with a desk lamp before running anything else on them.

Sometimes experience can be a merciless teacher!

Hope for a new spawn real soon!

    Hi all

    Herewith an update:

Aphyosemion Australes are doing very well and I have about 40 fry at the moment in various stages of growth. The largest ones are just starting top sex out.

I also got a new strain of Fp Gardneri Jps Plateau from a breeder Scotland. Managed to raise 4 males and two females to breeding size. Tremendous strain, very colourful and outgrew my existing strain within a month...

My best male- he is still small though and should look great a month's time.
