My first planted.

    Hi all I have started my planted tank now and its been running with 7 neon tettras 2 glass cat fish and 1 guppy for 4 days now and my cycle havent started yet in my 180l tank is this to little fish to get it started or am I to quick. The Amonia and ph levels have been constant. I have seeded the filter with some of my old tanks filter media. When is a good time to add my co2 and plants

    Ok, firstly, you should be adding the co2 and the plants from the very beginning. Plants absorb excess ammonia in the water column. You do not need to cycle an aquarium in order to add plants and co2.

    It is never a good idea to use fish to cycle your tank. You may put the fish under unnecessary stress and they may die due to ammonia buildup and poisoning. I usually add a bacteria strain to the tank, and use fish food, or aquasoil to cycle the aquarium.
