Ok so mods if I posted this in the wrong section, please make the necessary adjustments.

I was requested by a couple of the members to post a more detailed thread on how I built my auto water change system.

    https://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/index.php?posts/430177

    So here goes!

I will do this in a series of seperate posts on this thread, to firstly break it down into build sections and secondly then members can comment if they want and ask me any questions and I will try to answer if I can.

I also just want to say that this is my take on a automated topup/water change system and has worked for me so far very well in my setup, so please dont shoot me down to quickly, I am sure their are many otherways this could be done as well.

    Challenges:

    1. Fish room is at basement level.
    2. Water will be cold in winter as no heated water is available in my fish room.
    3. How to make sure water is safe to add directly from municipal water to tanks, I dont wont to get involved in dosing pumps and water ageing etc..
    4. Non of my tanks are drilled.
    5. How do I control the water flow and automate this process.

This list was in no particular order and was just what my initial thoughts were as I thought about the project and considered different options.

My main goals with the build was simplicty, expandability in the future and ease of build in terms of sourcing components and making sure that nothing was really non standard or hard to get in terms of all the parts. Also cost to a certain degree but not to the point where it would hinder the project or nake the build more difficult than it was already.

So I will adress each challenge in seperate posts with pictures of coarse where possible to make it more interesting, but not in the order as per above.
