Hey guys I don't want to open another can of worms (Blacklist issue) here but why is these names there ( Datnioides quadrifasciatus; Datnoides microlepis) but this one is not(Datnioides undecimradiatus) is there a difference. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Sorry don't want to hijack the thread.

Hi @johan008 .. the reason that those 2 Datnoids are on our BL i that both are on the criticly endangered list of CITES with microlepis said to be extinct in the wild... just DEAT doing their job conserving fish that aren't in their own waters...

The rest of the Datnoid gang is not criticaly threatened in their native habitat and are legal to keep in SA....But before you all go and rush out to buy a new tank and salt - consider the specialised conditions these fish need(constant stream of feeder fish - they rarely accept anything else) and a massive tank with super efficient filtration to handle all the waste...

Very true, it takes ALOT of time and dedication to get them to eat "dead" food and they still need live food every now and then. Tank MUST be big and I would recommend a sump filter.Money and Time and LOTS of patience. The one I have is the only freshwater specie. Please do not keep this fish only for his looks, you must really love fish and have or make the time to take care of it and need to talk to it as much as you can because they are very shy!!
