My Corner Tank

    Hi all.

    The start to my new adventure.

    My tank size.
    Front glass 1700mm
    Two side pains 1300mm
    650mm depth

    4 by 80w T5
    4 by 24w T5

    Got a canister. Cant remember what type. But i want to go with a sump so more filtration can be added as well as hiding the heaters etc and the bigger water volume
    Can you put some sort of a refugium in the sump to help with filtration?
    I am looking to do a slightly mixed tank with fish and plants dont have to much knowledge on the plants yet.

    Nice looking tank! You don't really need a refugium if you're going planted in the tank. A refugium would just steal nutrients from the plants that you want to grow. What type of fish are you wanting to keep?

    The lights look quite blue? What kelvin rating are they?

    I am not to sure just yet. I am looking around to see what is really compatible with a planted tank and that is not to needy for me to start off with until i get everything going and have learned abit more about them.

    When i took the pic i only had my two actinic lights on my 80w T5 at the time. My ballast for my other two is blown and waiting for my new one to arrive.

    Broder. I am away at the moment. When i am back i will do a reading of the lumens, par and kelvin and let you know what i am getting from my lights. Top, middle and bottom of my tank. Will have my new ballast by then.

    Good way of starting... I would say, decide if you want to keep fish from just one region, ie a biotope, or if you want to have a mixed type of community tank. If you go with the latter, make sure that all of your choices have similar needs wrt temperature and ph. Also, always check what size they grow to and if they become aggressive. Many fish uproot plants, so just check on that as well.
    Actinic a have no use in a planted tank. Rather change the lamps for anything between 6500k-8000k.

    Morning Guys and Girls. Ia m looking to get rid of my T5s and go led. Which lighting spektrum am i looking for (kelvin Rating) ? I am a little bit stuck causei am used to marine tanks and we have an assortment of kelvin i in my T5s.
