    Hi all,

I thought I would post a few pics of my other children...

    P9260240.jpg

This is TT my 3yo Umbrella Cockatoo, he is by far the most naughty and spoiled bird that I own...

    Berry 240509 1.jpg

This is Berry my Lesser Sulpher Crested Cockatoo, she is about 10/11yo. For whatever reason, she now hates me and every time I get close to the cage she tries to bite me, so my mom now gives her love and attention.

    P1220043.jpg

This is Tweety Bird with her head in one of her ball toys. No she wasn't stuck, it's just something she liked doing until she broke the ball. She is the baby of the flock, she is my now 1yo Lutino Love Bird. I rescued her from a guy that stayed on the property in the bachelor flat, that didn't know the first thing about birds, let alone trying to hand rear one so small. Oh and that's when he wasn't high. I'll post a better pic of her in another mail.

    P1230049.jpgP8290312.jpg

This is Sam my rescued African Grey. I'm not too sure how old Sam is but I've had him/her for just over the past year. Sam dances, does the high 5, kisses, whistles, chats and talks to us non-stop, he also does the microwave noises and mimics all the other birds voices too. He's a bit nippy, but that's only because someone did something nasty to him fracturing his one wing, I just wish I knew who it was and what they had done... I love him though, but darn he's naughty.

These are only a few of the flock there are still another 7 that I still need to post pics of.

Thanks @Vez. It's sad but true...:embarrest: Our birds eat much, much better than what we do. They all get fresh fruit and veg every day as well as pasta, or macaroni cheese, when we have left over, yoghurt, etc, etc.

As for my fish, my BGK's are my most spoiled fish as I'm always having to try find new pellets that they will eat, so as a result all my tanks get fed the same and it is more often than not, a very expensive, new variation of fish food. No wonder that all my fish grow at such a rate...

It's so true, they give us so much pleasure and unconditional love that you have no option other than to love them with all your heart...

wow they are lovely but they must get up to all sorts of mischief. my mom found a green fronted amazon in our gardne and when nobody claimed him he ended up staying with us. he adored my mom and followed her around the house. he spent alot of time in my moms indoor garden sitting over the pond, got to drink orange juice from her glass, chicken bones, cheese sauce and porridge in winter lol. a very spoiled bird when we moved into the new house my mom was worried that he would battle to get upstairs and so she found him a new home with a friend of ours that has a racing stable, he has the run of the yard in the morning getting to go into the feed room and nibble on whatever takes his fancy and then spends the rest of the day in an aviary before going into a normal cage and into the barn for the night.

Stunning birds! The cockatoos must drive you mad! :p Our pet african grey is 31 this year, we inherited it. Also have a few rescues, my favorite is my two blue and gold macaws, steri and stumpi, one without a tail(broken coccyx) and the other with one leg missing. They are actually attempting to breed this year, which everyone said was impossible, owing to the males rather unfortunately angled tailbone..

@Firefly, TT is sooo naughty, he's into everything and when I have him out of his cage, he tries to get into everything. I let him look at the fish and he keeps trying to tongue them through the glass... My Kutubu Rainbows love him and come and sit by the glass right in front of him, it's so cute.

@A Bauer, they are more than a handful, believe me... That's why I take mine out in stages, so that one doesn't become too jealous of the others...

@windfire, I'm just so sorry that your mom decided to get rid of the Amazon, even though he does sound happy at the yard. I wonder if he can neigh yet...:blink1: Does your mom still get to see him?

@arapaimag, gee you have some stunning birds.... I love the Hawk-Headed Parrot, they are such spectacular birds, but I don't know too much about them. I have seen a couple at our lfs but every time you go too near they panic, so I would rather not get them injured so I admire them from afar. Rose Breasted Cockatoos are so stunning they are just such pretty birds in their pink and grey. I would love to see pics of your birds, specially the Toucan, another bird I love with their bright colours. Are yours all pets? Do you keep them inside?

@Mzungu, Thank you. B & G's are my mom's favourite. Macaws in general seem to hate me, even though I love them, my special birds are the Cockatoos. I seem to be able to walk up to almost any one and they will allow me to touch them... As for my Cockatoos being noisy, I'm very fortunate... The one, Berry thinks that she is a Macaw and very seldomly makes her own noise but rather makes the same noises as the Macaws. She is a very special breed, she is known as our Macatoo since I don't think she knows that she is actually a Cockatoo. As for TT he only shouts and performs when he is being ignored, which isn't too often considering he's the "baby" in the house. I'll post pics of the rest of the flock later on...

    @Reedfish, thank you.

I'm glad that there are other bird keepers here and that I'm not the only nut...hehe

Lovely birds, used to have a yellow umbrella cuckatoo once but the ex took it when we divorced, really miss that bird. Do you feed them dried chillies? Fed mine each day some but be aware, don't let them come near your lips if they have eaten dried chillies, burns a lot. Enjoy them and precious them as each one develop his/her own personallity and character.

@hein24, thanks, TT is my when I grow up bird, he cost me a small fortune, but believe me he is worth every penny... Except when I want to trade him in on a 2011 sweeter model... hehehe. I'm glad you have given the AG a good home and it sounds like he is a feather plucker... There are various reasons for this... Is your AG tame?

@wsteene, I'm so sorry you lost your bird... I know how heartbreaking it can be.:bawling: As for chillies, we used to feed ours chillies, but then my mom went in for eye surgery so we decided that it was best that she not get anything in her eye, just in case...

BTW Zebra Plec, Rory & I have started up a new bird forum, why don't you guys consider joining...?

it is sad @Skye01 but we had to think of his mental well being and safety. not being able to follow my mom or get upstairs to shower with her would have upset him terribly and we have alot of doors opening onto patios and balconies my mom was worried he'd get out. well he gets the best quality snackies since racehorses get the best of the best hehe. i've been thinking for awhile when i got the space i want to build a fairly big aviary with lots of different types of finches and bird friendly plantings a nice lil stream and waterfall awesome place to chill.

Yeah she's tame and likes me a lot, as for my fiance she bites the crap out of her. I know the main reason she was plucking, the bike shop wasn't the perfect environment for her, also the guy didn't give her attention at all. She was in a huge workshop where they serviced bikes and so forth so I think it was a bit too loud.

Her feathers are growing back slowly. Anyway sorry lol don't wanna hi-jack your thread @Skye01

@windfire, I know all about doing the right thing when it comes to animals... Well I'm glad to hear that he is very happy though. At the end of the day it's all about our animals being happy. If you are interested in building an avery that is "bird friendly" I suggest that you go through to Birds For Africa out on High Road in Pomona. They have a stunning set up out the one side full of plants and a variety of birds. BTW this is the place where the one owner was found burned to death in a veld, I know/knew the owners very well.

@hein24, yes, your AG is definitely a girl, it's so funny the way that they work, and AG's are famous for choosing 1 partner over another. Usually males pick women and females pick men, so I'm afraid that your fiance may not have much luck in trying to win her over, it's all about jealousy. Typical woman...:amuse: BTW you are not hi-jacking my thread, I love talking about birds whether they are mine or someone else's.

I post some more pics of my other children a little later today...
