Soooo...I finally convinced 'my' SWAMBO (She Who Always Must Be Obeyed) that our current tank is a little too small, and that the dimensions (ratios) are wrong, etc. The agreement is in place...NO MTS...I may replace the 'old' with the 'new', then get rid of the 'old'. I think I'm OK with that, though it will take a while to get over the emotional trauma of giving up my 'baby'...my first ever tank...built from scratch...by my very own hands...the blood...sweat...tears...

OK, enough drama. Here's the plan:

Have tank built - 180cm x 60cm x 50cm (LxWxH) - it will cost me more than building it myself, but for that size tank ... I don't have the hands available at this stage.
    Build stand
    Cover stand

I have been inspired 99.5% by @mxz - The House of Uaru - all the design work has been done!
I love the cabinet around the stand (that is what sealed the deal - if I can get mine to look like that, it'll fit beautifully in our living room).
The only difference is that I'll be putting my filter against the back. This way we can also view the tank from the side. I know, maintenance will be a mission, but I don't want a sump or crazy pricy cannister filter. I also don't want any equipment visible in the tank. As with my other tank I will be doing a DIY 3D background, which will also hide the filter.

One question I have at this stage is regarding the stand. For this size tank what size square tubing would I need? Also, is one center brace/leg sufficient (as with mxz's stand), or should I make it two braces/legs?

Another thing regarding the tank...how do Euro bracing vs a Center brace compare?

nice I would say go at least 75 0r 80 cm wide if the filter is going to be at the back I presume inside the tank , wider is always better , mabe in a year or 2 you wanna keep big fish or go marine then you will glad you have the extra width.50 mm tubing euro braced centre brace always tend to mess with lighting. my 2c

I thought I would go with 100cm x 15cm. Should allow for enough filtration. Going with a large central chamber, as per the Prof's design.
