    Damn! Looks great!

I will definitely be trying this DIY CO2 system as well. Do you use the DIY CO2 and excel simultaneously?

    Update

I have changed the wood in the tank. Battling with thread algae, so have finally managed to afford a regulator and will get a cylinder soon.

    Here is an updated pic...

I also got this plant, anyone know what it is or how it should be planted?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

It's glosso :) it is a carpeting plant and should spread along the substrate. Cut it into pieces and plant those

Going to get 2kg as not much space for a bigger one.

It was R1500 at a shop.

So I have done a major trim about two weeks ago. I have some green algae coming back now, so I am abit bleak at the moment. Thought the Co2 would have helped the situation but obviously not...

I feel your pain... I have still to learn the recipe for successfully eliminating algae. What seems to work algae free in one tank, turns to algae soup in the next, seemingly identical setup. You could try planting more plants. The more there are, the more they compete for nutrients. If there is an imbalance in nutrients, such as not enough macro elements(N, P, K) or trace elements such as iron, magnesium, calcium etc; this will favour algae growth.
