I did a major clean-up yesterday as it was sorely needed. The biofilm just multiplied exponentially and made the tank look very yucky. I manually removed most of it, as well as the died-off algae throughout the tank. Removed about 75% water, and I completely cleaned the HOB too.

I stuck tons of my Blyxa Japonica trimmings from my main tank in the back, with only 1 x L.Glandulosa in there as a focal plant. Need to get plant mass going as I don't want to have a constant algae battle on my hand. I left the tiger lotus' in, as well as 2 cuttings of the Euriocaulon Cinerium there. I'm rather just going to keep the plant layout this simple in the tank...less will probably be more in this instance. Besides, my Ludwidgia White and Tonina Belem is only just starting to grow in my main tank and they're not the fastest growers either. I'll look in a few months time if plants need changes, but I'm happy with this format for now. The epiphytes of course will remain as-is.

Have done some minor touch-ups and a general clean few moments ago.
Moved the co2 to the back for the hob to distribute the bubbles rather.
Added a little bit more of the decorative sand.

All plants are showing new growth, especially the fissidens.

Btw, I saw a small gap somewhere and I stuck a small rizhome of needle leaf in (I couldn't help myself) [IMG][IMG]

    Well done!

    - The Gladgulosa is growing nicely. Not as intense red as I am aiming for yet, but it'll get there.
    - Blyxa is also doing quite nicely
    - The pinnafitida has shown some nice growth. I'm going to stick 2 more shoots in here that's currently floating in my main tank.
    - Have notice a bit of green algae on the floor; have leaned my dosage even more...looks like it's working.

I'm sure this tank will continue to mature well - why not put a background on it? Black or frosted perspex/ ABS from Maizey's?
Also, where did you get those lights out of interest - and do they made them in 45cm size? Busy helping a friend put together a tank and looking for an affordable light.

I never do backgrounds on my tanks as my plants normally draw my eyes away from seeing through the tank. But, I'll wait for the tank to mature a bit more and will revisit this. I might actually drill a hole in the surface and move the co2 in the BIC below...that kinda was my initial plan.

Bought the lights from Value Co in Bayside Mall, Table View. They're cheap, R 220 for 60cm,and they're adjustable, so it'll fit perfectly on 45cm too. I've see some guys sell these exact same lights for R 450...just go straight to the source where they buy it from and pay half the price.

Done a bit of maintenance earlier.

Just cut the L. Glandulosa and replanted the shoot next to the main one. This thing grew well out the water already, so I had to snip.

The Hygrophila Pinnafitida is starting to grow very nicely and I'm thinking that this will actually take over the tank (which isn't a bad thing). Will replant the shoots in the other gaps and I'm considering removing some of the anubias to make space. Gonna leave the buce in place.

I also think the Blyxa might be too healthy....it's not shooting a bit higher than I expected it would. But okay, early days still...I'll be patient.
