    Tank specs: 200 x 70 x 70 cm
    Tank Volume 980 l

So i am 90 percent complete on my tank revamp. I cant seem to get rid of thise nasty lime stains on the outside of the back glass so my plan is to get perspex or 6mm glass cut into sheets and paint it black, these black sheets will be inserted in to the tank against the back glass and voila i will have a black background.:dancing2:

nice tank and mix of species there... well done... what you could also do Besh is make your own 3d Backdrop with styrofoam, marine cylicon and some dhlala paint... Let me know if you are interested and also search forum for DIY backdrop, there are some nice examples...

Well done and enjoy - its gonna be fun

Very Nice. How many fish do you have in there? You are lucky to have a pleco in there, my fish kill new fish I want in the tank.

What filtration do you have in your tank?

The tank looks great man. Nice variety of color there.

Before you sprint off to the hardware shop trying to find marine safe paint and expensive alternatives to your problem try the following.

Vinegar should remove the lime stains against the glass, so you'll have to drain your tank to move it and try that first. When you succeed (Because you will) you can either spraypaint the back pane on the outside or stick a vinyl sticker or whatever background you prefer onto it.

Black perspex sheet will be much more sufficient than having to cut glass and paint it. You can stick the perspex on the outside or this can be placed in the tank without harming your fish.

    Good luck

thanks guys, im really quite proud of it.

hi polla i am really keen at attempting the 3d background, i have been searching through the net quite extensively and have seen some amazing designs, your tank looks stunning and would really appreciate some help with the 3d background. i understand the basics, polystyrene, shaping etc. but am not sure on what paints to use:unsure:

    thanks mate + 1

well basically the stains are on the outside of the back glass, the space between the wall and the back of the tank is like 15 cm so a lil of a squeeze, i can access quite a large area of the back glass if i remove the hood, will defineately give the vinegar a try though:wink:, its a bit of a mission to move the tank around, even when empty so ill have to work with it as is. the black perspex idea is the winner for me, just need to get me some black perspex

Well heres a basic breakdown of the tank

    Filtration

    2 x Eheim canister filters
    2 x 1500lph internal filters
1x powerhead (used for short intervals to stir up debris)
i am currently working on a overhead filter system for the tank that will be mounted on top of the tank

    Aeration

From the first full tank short one will notice air bubbles in the right front of the tank, this is created via the sump return, i find it a more natural form of aeration as compared to the use of airpumps.

I also have a 75cm air-curtain in the tank for aesthetic and practical purposes.

    Substrate

    - 80kg of silica

    Lighting

    4 x 3ft T5 white bulbs
    1 x 3ft blue bulb
1 x 4 ft 10k , cool pink colour,(this light i use in the evenings, the fish tend to become very subtle and calm with this light on, as it just enhances their natural colour but not with too much effect)
