    My Plan of Action

Ok so here's my plan which I hope to put into action by November. I know it's early days but "If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail" :)

    Equipment

    1. Tank=100 litre tank (standard 3 foot)

    2. Lights= 2 x T8's 1 x sunglo
    1 x Cool white

    3. Heater= 2 x 75watt lifetech heaters

    4. Filter= 1 x Cascade canister (still have to look at models)

    5. Stand= Standard bought stand

(Tell me if I've left something out and I'll edit it in. P.S. I'm not planning on adding CO2)

    Substrate

I was thinking of going the Aquasoil route as I have heard good things about it.

    Plants(options)

    M. pteropus
    T. barbieri
    V. spiralis
    A. barteri
    E. bleheri

    Fish(options)

    10 x neon tetra's
    4 x angels(not sure of type yet)
    5 x Panda cory's
    1 x Bristle Nose
1 x Pair of Rams (after about 1 year)

That's my plan so far. Just waiting for the money to come in and for me to move outta the house:)

    Dude...absolutely nothing wrong with planning..he,he...

Can I make a suggestion though... Pretty sure you dead keen on the Angels... So cater to their needs a bit better than what a standard 3 foot does - get some quotes to make the tank deeper, say 45 or 50 cm deep. Shouldnt increase the cost of tank by that much.

Oh...and maybe rethink the Neons with Angels thing - the tank is not very big and as your Angels mature,Neons will most prob end up as snacks... Maybe get a school of 10 Harlequins rather (or do you want ALL S.American fish? )

Open question to the rest of you with Aquasoil.... How does Corydoras's digging and rooting behaviour go with the lightness of Aquasoil? do they create a mess with it?

@azurekoi Sounds like a good plan. Always liked a slightly deeper tank :)

As for the Harlequins. They are quite an attractive fish. I know they are from Asia but I reckon they'll fit in nicely. It is gonna be a community setup anyway.

The other option I have on the substrate is pool filter sand. My friend owns a pool shop and I get the sand for free.

    Thanks for the response

Please wash the pool filter sand thoroughly, I learned the hard way!!
When buying Harlequins, I prefer Rasbora hengeli (Copper Harlequin) instead of the normal Rasbora heteromorpha. But most LFS keep these two together and they have to sort them for you! Only one LFS has made the time of day to catch only the right ones for me!! +1 for Brian of JungleAquatics to personally stand and catch the coppers for me years ago :).

If you can afford to spend a bit more, try to get a jager heater in stead of the two lifetechs. They more energy efficient, less prone to breaking, under temp and over temp. But I understand they are a bit expensive, that's why I own exactly 0 of them :)

Funny thing with Harlequins... To me the classic T.heteromorpha will allways be king... T.hengelli is nice, but I prefer the bigger size that T.heteromorpha gets to...and with the angels, this becomes quite important...

hehe personal choice it seems... I like the T. hengelli for its smaller size and have had no issues with an adult Angel pair in my 100L with the Harlequins, and now I have 4 smallish neons with 3 Angels in my 200L. (I have lost the rest of the school before I introduced the Angels, so they are not at fault).
    Maybe I'm just lucky
