If I had to cut down the plants that have bad algae almost to the bottom would they grow back or an I going to have to get new plants?
because I have a few plants that are still coveres in algae and it does not look all that good.

Looks good Gareth, one question;ever considered adding a black background? It really creates a great contrast against the green plants and brings out the fishes colors.

I was considering it but I can't decide between a Black Background or a blue one. I have no idea which would work better on this tank.

awsome setup .looks great .why not by a thin piece of massonite same measurements as your tank and paint one black one side blue then use each for a few days until you decide .i think black will rock as a background ...again nice looking setup

gareth for the backround i think you should try to get some ABS plastic sheeting from a place like printing things in potch, its the same plastic as the plastic used for those emergency signs in buildings for fire exits etc you can get it in all sorts of colours from 1-6mm thick,

try to get a blue piece and black peice and see which one u like best

    and that tank looks great

    Hey Gareth,

I know youre having a hard time with the water turning yellow, get some seachem purigen for your filter, it takes out the yellow, you must like put it in a silk sock in your filter, if you cant find it, theres a great petshop at the Rietfontein Pavillion centre that stocks it, R264 for 250ml that treats 250 gallons ( 1000l )

:bigsmile:Yes I know about the Seachem Purigen I just choose not to use it because I kind of like the slight yellow colour and it is only because of the Wood that was put into the tank.:blink1: So I will let it run it course and see how it looks like then but for now I will just keep up with the regular water changes.....

Gareth - I had a quick look at your stand for this tank. http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showpost.php?p=39352&postcount=28

Is the stand made of 25x25 tubing and what do you recon is a good working height required above the tank, also is the tank 6 mm glass or 8 mm?

Would you recommend a 180x45x45 or if you could choose make it slight deeper or higher for that length tank?

    Thanks Ferdie

The Stand is made of 25x25 square tubing but the the tank is on angle Iron 25x25x2mm if I am not mistaken.
I will have to go measure the hight of the stand, I am not to sure what it is.

as for the tank I would prefer a 1.8m x 60cm x 50cm tank(LxBxH). This tank is great to work in but you run out of space very quickly and the plants start to overlap each out badly I think with the Width at 60 it would work a bit better.
The tank is made out of 8mm Glass and is braces very well.

I will let you know what the hight is and so on later tonight.
    Hope this help abit.

Thanks I will update the thread with a few new Pics tonight.

@F-Fish. the tank stand hight from Floor to ubder tank is 770mm but if you you make the tank 50cm high then the sand will be great at about 650mm
space need to work in tank should be at least 15cm to 20cm so that you can work comfortably in the tank.

    Thanks Gareth .. 1.8m x 60cm x 50cm tank(LxBxH) sounds like the way to go - I mean go big ;-)
