    Hi guys/gals

My community tank has been in operation for about 2 and a half weeks now, but i've noticed that the water is still a bit murky, the fish seem healthy and their appetite has not diminished...i'm not sure if my filter maybe a bit weak for my size tank but it was recommended by a LPS. i'm using the RS 2000, 800l/h...
any advice will be greatly appreciated...thanks

that filter circulates your tank 4 x in just over an hour which is fine (assuming you are talking about your aprox 220l tank).... my water went murky when I first started it but soon cleared.

I wouldnt stress to much. I hope you cycled your tank properly though? If not then go and get some Bacterial cultures (seachem stability, nutrafin Cycle etc.) and add it in as directed.

seachem stability, nutrafin Cycle etc are basicly cultures of the good bacteria that u are trying to breed in your filters anyway and will in no way harm your fish .seachem stability is the better product but i have used cycle and its not to bad either

Could you perhaps give a bit more detail as to what maintenance your follow? How strong is the lighting. How Long is the lighting on. Plants- live or plastic. What pumps and airstones ets you are running?

How long did the tank stand with no fish in before introducing fish?

Have you tested the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

I have a site meeting for most of the day, but hopefully by the time I get back you would have answered a lot of questions, and I can see where I can assist.

Remember, rather give too much information, than less.

Hi. I had the same issue with the water being murky & posted it on the forum. I got some microbelift from Henk Hugo and my water is now crystal clear.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=155252&id=635125063&l=d98ba7f4bb.
    Absolutely AMAZING stuff...
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I might have the same issue, my tank has been cycled i just not certain why its murky...is it safe to use with fish in the tank?

    Hi Zoom,

I've got live plants, its a 40watt 36inch flourescant globe, the light is on for about 12 hours, i'm running a RS 2000 filter 800l/h, no airstones, the tank stood for 2 weeks without fish in it, i was told by the LPS to let it stand for that long, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates levels are fine...my tank is about 220l...its dimensions are 1500x300x500...the fish show no signs of stress or gilling...maybe an airstone might help...hope i have supplied you with enough information...

i spoke to one of the guys in the LPS, and they think that i may have stocked my tank too early, and that i should cut back on the feeding for a few days feed them like once in two or three days, any thoughts on this guys/gals????
