You give 30days notice in writing to MTN, in your notice letter make sure to tell them that you will be canceling your contract with them and porting to Vodacom. It's important to ensure that MTN understand that you will be porting away. Ensure you have proof of delivery of the notice to MTN so there are no disputes later on, also verbally verify that they have received the notice and understood what you are doing, 48 hours to 72 hours after you have served said notice to them. Porting is now a painless procedure and works very well. Once you are in pocession of your new Vodacom sim card make sure your old MTN sim card stops working if it doesnt then the port has not been completed and you will need to get Vodacom to nudge MTN. The whole physical port will take 24 to 48 hours, in that time you should always have service on one of your sim cards if not both.
Damn it's good to have a community like this !!! Hopefully you don't have any troubles after this :blink1:
i know got hold of someone at the pinelands branch emailed them my story yesterday afternoon late called them this morning to follow up and they say come fetch your sim card at 10:00
