Do you guys think it's possible to breed a mquito fish/guppy hybrid?

The reason I'm asking is coz I placed a male mquito fish male in my female guppy tank a long while back, and recently I noticed 3 fish witch are a lot less colourful than other young guppy's in the tank.
I removed one which had just developed a gonopodium to the tank with my other full grown males.
He has a black dot on his tail a red stripe on his side and a very slight yellow colour patch on his tail.
The other two (presumably females) was just plain silver/dull grey.

So I'm not saying these fish are hybrid's, It just made me think If this is possible, and if so would the offspring be infertile like ligers and mules?

Possibly? There is anecdotal evidence suggesting a P. reticulata x G. vittata hybridisation being possible(only hearsay about G. affinis). However, I am yet to see either living proof or at least a verifiable picture, and the structural differences of the gonopodium between the two suggests successful mating may not even be possible, and even if it would be, there different chromosome numbers(46 vs. 48) will either result in unsuccessful gestation, or sterile offspring.

My personal opinion would be no, its not possible, especially seeing that a lot of people have tried, and claims of successful hybridisation seems to be that of noobs, or persons that have no clear understanding of livebearers, and would like to enter the arena with tall-stories, without evidence to back it up.

I must ask of you to please post some photos of this offspring? It would be great to have a look at them, and then people can make better assumptions.

    Kind regards
