Moving

Hi there everybody.:idea:
im moving 2fish tanks and about 60fish.
I just wanted to know if there is any thing I must remember when moving.
What are the best way to move the fish, Should I take them out or leave them in the tank with about 50% of the water in so it doesnt spill out.
Ill be driving for about a Hour and a half to two hours.
Any ideas would be great thank you.

 

Always empty the tank before moving it. How big are the 2 tanks?

I've transported fish by putting them in a bucket that has a lid and it's worked fairly well. Fill the buckets to around 1/3rd and put the fish in and then close the lids. Leave the tank empty. Maybe try ask your LFS if they have any of those styrofoam containers the fish come in for you as they will help keep the temp stable.

and what about when I get it back, do i just add water from the the bucket and then my own water, and then add the fish.
Tank is 150l and the other is a 50l

 

Ok so you'll need 2 or 3 buckets then. When you get to your destination put the tank in place where you want it etc then start filling with the water in the bucket and the fish.
In addition to the buckets you might need some of those 25L drums to hold all the water otherwise take another bucket and fill it with water and close the lid as tight as you can. Put all the water back into the tank and the fish. Leave them for a bit and get your pump/heater running then worry about adding "fresh" water.
