Moving media to new filter.

Hi all

So I managed to swop my Tidal 55 for a Tidal 110. Was very fortunate to be able to do the swop without any extra cost.

I have never done this before, so was wondering if anyone could help.

I would like to remove the 55 and add the already established biomedia to the 110. Can I just move it over using aquarium water to keep the bacteria alive and put the new filter on?

My thinking is that, since all the media I have will move over, there shouldn't be a problem, but don't want to do it without asking for advice.

Yeah, should not be an issue. I tend to add a cap of Stability when I do that as an added precaution, although with your tank being lightly stocked, less necessary.
I'd try and do it between usual water changes (leaving what BB there is on the glass and other inner surfaces intact, again as a precaution).

 

Yeah 100%. That will be perfect, if you have any spare stability on hand maybe add a touch. 110 has a bigger media pouch so definitely look to add an extra sponge/bio rings/matrix

I would also add Stability for 3 or 4 days just for peace of mind
