These things are absolutely awesome :) But just keep in mind you need to keep "turning" them or they'll peg and grow funny.

Wow, surprised to hear that! As I understood their biology - this was an integral part of how they evolved to grow in "balls" - and just intuitively - surely the parts of the moss ball not receiving light would just die? no photosynthesis. Still - nothing beats experience. :) They've obviously evolved to grow that way, and are following evolutionarily instructions regardless of their habitat!

I love marimo balls! thats what you're talking about right?

    Plecs are L168

The Torpedos are R65 for 50-60mm.

New variety of Hi Fin Torpedos also now available, but still very pricy.

    yep, no problem.

Is that one of my Emporers I spot in the top right corner??

Thats a good price for the Torpedos!! I'm almost tempted myself!! They'd probably eat the Riessei though!!

Nice Balls by the way!! Oo-er!!

    G!

Sorry to inform you, but those are hand rolled and not the real deal.

"Cladophora balls are currently so popular in Japan that they are now protected plants. It is said that plants of other non-ball forming species are rolled by hand into balls and sold as true Marimo. This raises the question, what really are these plants that are turning up in our shops and on our showbenches. If they truly are Cladophora aegagropila which are supposedly protected in Iceland and Japan then where do they come from? If they’re not, they must be of the hand rolled variety in which case the aquarist should be wary. I’ll leave you to make your own decisions."

how do you tell that they are hand rolled. what would the distinguishing characteristics be?

these were imported from singapore - as clado. they are also grown in several european countries.
