damn, some people got a bit on edge over there.

My opinion, If Mollies live in salt water, fine, if they live in fresh water, not fine.

If mollies move between fresh and salt water in the wild does it mean they can survive in just salt water or can they only survive in salt water for a limited amount of time?

I'm not all that fond of Mollies so I haven't bothered keeping them or researching them so I'm not sure anything I'm saying makes sense.

The way I see it is that if they (salt water guys) are having an algae problem they aren't doing something right. Too much nutrients in the water? Use a scrubber, not fish. Don't be lazy.

I don't think fish should be used as tools in a sump.
Yes we get bottom feeders to eat the food other fish miss, and yes we get pleco's and apple snails to such up some algae but they're in the tank so they can be seen and enjoyed, not in a sump hidden away out of sight performing a job like Quasimodo in the bell tower.

Ok, thats my rant, not sure I even understand what I said. Fish are friends, not tools :)

Linchpin, i dont really care about mollies and the whole deal..

    but,

"I don't think fish should be used as tools in a sump."

'but they're in the tank so they can be seen and enjoyed, not in a sump hidden away out of sight performing a job"

I HIGHLY doubt fish give a rats ass if they are "viewed" the most peaceful fish i have seen are the ones that are not viewed and bothered as often as others.

Animals have instinct. they NEED to feed themselves and reproduce (probably thier main instinct) if they eating and reproducing all day, they will be happier as a cow in a field of grass.
