Mold like algae

    I have a mold like spider web type algae growing on one of my java ferns. Any idea what it might be and how to get ride of it?

    try taking a pic. easier to identify if we can see how it looks.

    There isn't enough of the algae on the java but it looks like either white hair algae or staghorn algae (according to the google machine).

    Ok so finally got a pic of the mold. Let me know what you think it is and also how i can get rid of it

    Hmmnn.... pic abit fuzzy - does look like Staghorn though... get hold of some Crystal Algae Clear from a koi shop - works like a bomb on this particular type of algae and does not harm your plants...

    Gauteng tap water has high calcium and especially magnesium levels - Staghorn loves the magnesium... How long is your lightperiod- aim for 8 - 10 hours - also planting your tank more heavily can help...

    Lightperiod is 8 hours. Will try get more plants during the week
