Some times in a LPS I saw male bettas with goldfish in the same tank. The males did not chases the gold fish around. I have 5 goldfish about 3 cm long( some are a little shorter)in a 46 cm long tank.Could I put my 2.5 cm betta with the gold fish? The 2.5 cm betta is with an other 3cm betta in a 30 cm tank(they are from the same batch)The 3 cm betta chases the 2.5 cm one.The 2.5 cm betta never chases the big one around. That is why I want to put my small betta with the gold fish.Could it work?

What filtration have you got on your tank, cause goldfish do give off quiet a bit of waste.
But the Betta should be fine, aslong as he has a hinding spot or two.

try put in a heater and add the betta to the goldfish tank. Our summers are warm but our winters get too cold for the Betta

Your goldfish are going to love the warmer water will grow quickly and might even breed with water temp increasing.

If the water is around 24 degrees celcius will it do any harm to the gold fish or the betta?

I don't have a betta but something similar, paradise fish, in with the goldfish in an outside pond. Survived 2 winters so far and he is a real stunner, very vivid colours, long tail and actually looks in better health than any I have seen in a fresh water tank.

    no harm done
it will speed up the me metabolism of the goldfish, hence increase your feeding, water changes and filtration.
However you might have a problem with the greedy goldfish eating all the food.
Try feed the Betta personally so he/she is not left out

Just a input. Gold fish can live 20+ years but if the temp is higher than 'cold water, under 20 degrees' the lifespan will be less. As Khalid said the metabolism will speed up, hence the shorter life span. it is common that cold water fish grow slower and live longer.
