    Hi all.
I have had so many people give me advice and help me out getting started in this hobby. I have now got to the stage where I can start giving something back as well.
I have some Microworm cultures (4 to be exact) that have been going for just over a month now and they are doing pretty well.
They are VERY easy to cultivate and all you need to keep them going is bread, water, sugar and brewers yeast.
If there is anyone who would like a starter culture, I would me more than happy to donate one.
All that you need to supply is a small plastic container. I use small Addis rectangular containers that can hold about 700ml.
I am located in Parklands, Cape Town.

Hello Darryn, do you still have any microworm starter cultures available. You live quite close to me and so it will be convenient to fetch from you, if you still live in Parklands?
Actually all we need is 1 teaspoon of worms if you have any available. This is for my Dad that lives in Fish Hoek. We have been looking for microworms for a long time now.

    Hi guys.
Sorry for only replying now. It's been quite a day.
I would not mind supplying to whoever wants. I just ask that the 'receiver' covers postage costs as well as whatever container, etc. that I send them in.
I don't think the container would be more than a couple of rand. The container that I would send them in, would not be the container that you would use to culture them when you received the culture. I can take photos and give details of what I use, or I can supply it as well (Again, this does not cost more than about R10).
Let me know what you think.
Just to be clear, I am not making anything on this, I am doing it to help others. There have been a lot of people that have helped me in the past, and this is just a small way I can give back to the community.
    Cheers

IT sound far that we pay for the postage and the containers and as for the details on how to cultivate them you should post it up on the forum so it can benefit everyone

Cool, then I will get on it.
I will find out about postage details.
As for the details, I have a PDF that was supplied to me by Tyrone Genade on this forum that I used as a base from 'my' way. I will contact him to confirm that I may post it here. I also have a link to a website that gives LOADS of details. Is it okay to post links to websites on the forum?
I don't want to take credit for someone else's work. LOL.

Thanks for offering Darryn. With all my stuff at the parents house at the moment it would have taken me a while to be able to get the micro-worm cultures started and be able to send it up via post to the guys in the other regions.

I went to plastics for africa in montague gardens and they have nice containers that you could use as small "shipping" containers. And it was like R5 - R10 each.

Let me know how those other worms is doing so I can get some of that from you :blink1:

    Hi all.
Sorry for only getting back to this thread now. I have been a bit sick this week.
I will find out about the 'shipping' containers this weekend.
How would you prefer me to send them? Normal snail mail, Speed Services, courier?
I will take some photos over the weekend of what containers I use and then you can also decide if I should get some for you, or you want to source your own. Let me know what you guys want.
I need to prepare the starter cultures, so I just need to confirm who all wants. From the thread so for it is Gareth, KiazerG and Frieks(t)a. Anyone else?

Will the worms survive the snail mail trip? I think speed service will be better?

Hi darryn, hopefully you are feeling better. Thanks for all the effort you are putting it to try get this going.

I definitly would like i just have one question, is it legal to post "live" things?
I think what would be best, maybe just speaking for myself, is just to get a cheapest container that will seal well (maybe tape it closed) and then send and we can get it going in our own. Would it last a couple days in the post without the worms dieing? Because i used to do a bit of posting last year on bid or buy, and cheapest overnight service i could find last year was 43.50.

If you find out about the postage let me know, if it is possible to get them into a container and send for about R50 that would be awsome :) Not sure how much the other guys are willing to pay.

    Thanks
    Freaksta
