Microgeophagus altispinosus - Bolivian Rams!

Hey my good folks!

I thought I'd ask a question... I moved my two Bolivian Rams from my 315L tank into their own 28L tank, and hoped they would breed. I noticed last night that on one of the plants bases, their was a pinkish reddish blob about 3-4mm across and about 2mm wide. I couldn't see it clearly enough to distinguish if it was actually eggs, but I thought I'd ask you good peeps if they sound like eggs? Is the colour right or do Rams have a different egg colouration?

I did also notice that there was a thin white stringy film around it. Is this Fungus or Mold?

I think Bolivian rams are actually Mikrogeophagus altispinosus

Sounds like snail eggs to me. Ram eggs are glassy with only the slightest hint of pink colour.

 

Sounds like eggs, our spawn was in a small depression in the riversand excavated by the mother, pink-red and about 3mm - However there was a clutch of about 150 of them (Damn pity Mommy ate them !!!!)

 

They breed like rabbits so there will be more. Bolivian rams are much easier to keep and breed than true rams.

big g definatly those sound like fish is she being extra protective over that erea ? I,m not sure about the mold part but watch her if she seems to over protective of that erea you shall see fish in a few days but then you have to get them out of the tank other fish will eat them set them aside in a small tank o.k

thanks for all your replies! I have good news! Although the original question turned out to be a bit of tetra bits, I now have eggs! Clear white eggs, lots of them! I can see about 50 or so, but can't see the whole area that they are 'deployed'?

They had been digging lots of pitts, before finally settling on a flat piece of granite!

I do however have a couple of questions....

Firstly, how long before the eggs hatch? I have had some difference of opinion overs such things, but would I be right at 2 days?

Secondly, what will the fry eat? What is the best product to get for them?

Thirdly, How long should they be left with the parents?

They are the only inhabitants of the tank at the moment, as they are in a 28L AquaH2O tank. (I know, I know, but i got it cheap!)
