So i haven't been in the hobby for ages. And it showed today.

Didnt have buffer in place against ph spikes and todat my ph fell through the floor.

All the fancy guppies i got last week are lost.

Feel like such an absolute idiot.

    Back to square 1.

    Sorry to hear
As @A new day says, crushed coral should prevent this from happening again
Or even a small cuttle bone

This is really sad news. I'm so sorry to hear. However guppies usually handle water parameter changes well. Maybe your soil leached too much ammonia into the water which would be my guess. Keen to know what your parameters were

Our water here in most parts of CT is really extraordinarily soft. Mine comes out of the tap at 7 but as @PappaBear said it can fall through the floor without a buffer. Awesome for softwater fish but well below what guppies can handle. I’ve had nasty surprises of 4,5 or so. We’re lucky with the water in CT for many reasons but that is definitely something special we need to monitor here. @PappaBear gimme a shout if you struggle to get your hands on crushed coral. I have some to spare, Rondebosch
